The 2023 Fire Prevention Technology Industry Exhibition was held at Yangjae aT Center in Seoul from July 7 to 9 under the auspices of the Korea Fire Protection Technology Society and the MICE Forum. More than 60 companies have prepared 160 booths to showcase various new technologies and new products. Companies related to electric vehicle fires also participated.
Tank Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Joo Kwang-il and Kim Young-han) unveiled a new type of suppression equipment to respond to electric vehicle fires. Usually, when an electric vehicle catches fire, it is used to cover the suffocation fire extinguisher from the outside or move the vehicle and immerse it in the tank. The company has released a product that allows electric vehicle fire fighting equipment to directly penetrate the battery case under the vehicle and spray water inside.
"In the event of a fire, simply install it in the lower part of the electric vehicle and automatically drill a hole in the battery case using water pressure," a company official said. "The time to penetrate into the lower battery can quickly extinguish the fire from 10 seconds to 5 minutes."
Paratech Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Sun-ki) presented various attractions such as fire extinguishing facilities such as sprinklers and water spray heads for road tunnels, as well as spray demonstrations and fire robots. In the sprinkler demonstration of sprinklers, the sprinkler head is configured to directly see the process of damaging and spraying the heat sensitive body in response to heat.
"We have the largest number of sprinkler products among domestic fire-fighting equipment companies," a company official said. "The company conducts repair calculations for decompression orifices applied to water spray heads." Firefighting robots, which are said to combine robots with artificial intelligence, IoT and 5G technologies, also attracted participants' attention.
SpecTech Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Jong-seok) exhibited a lithium-ion battery thermal runaway transition blocking material. This blocking material is a product in which ceramic boards and foamed graphite are bonded to non-combustible plastic in a multilayer structure. A company official said, "It has characteristics such as non-combustion, heat shielding, insulation, and high tensile strength, so it can prevent the spread in the event of a fire in an electric vehicle charging facility underground."
